Air Force Programs
The combination of payload and range has made the C-130 Hercules the long-distance workhorse of the French Air Force fleet for both humanitarian and military missions. In 1987, France purchased an initial quantity of six new-production C-130H Hercules air lifters, later acquiring six additional C-130H/H-30 aircraft from Lockheed Martin and two used C-130Hs from a third country.

An industrial compensation program associated with the C-130 purchases notably included C-130 aerostructures provided by EADS subsidiary Socata and Latecoere subsidiary Sidmi Aviation.

Army Programs
As an original member of the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) international consortium, France continues to operate that system today. In 2003, the French arms-procurement agency, DGA signed a multi-year contract to purchase Lockheed Martin Laser Guided Training Rounds to enhance air-to-ground precision munitions delivery capability of French Air Force fighters.

The French Armaments Directorate (DGA) awarded Javelin Joint Venture (Raytheon & Lockheed Martin) a contract for 260 missile rounds and 76 launcher units in early 2010. Javelin is the world’s first portable, fire and forget, multipurpose missile system.
Lockheed Martin is partnered with MBDA on the Guided MLRS program. Lockheed Martin collaborated with Eurocopter to integrate Lockheed Martin’s Hellfire air-launched missile for the Australian version of the Eurocopter Tiger combat helicopter and the French Armed Forces selected Hellfire for their Eurocopter Tiger fleet in 2008.

Vessel Traffic Management
Lockheed Martin’s French subsidiary, ERAAM, designed and installed the vessel traffic management systems at the ports of Marseilles and Nantes. The basic vessel traffic management system, mainly developed in France, also operates successfully in the Bosporus, Greece, Singapore, Romania and the Suez Canal.
